The History

The Call
Anya felt a deep desire for an object that would represent her essence. A bag was the most powerful object to express her soul. She wanted a handbag that would embody excellence on every level and capture her ideal world. Since it didn’t exist, she decided to create it herself.
BU
Anya had no idea what this bag would look like, but she was crystal clear on what it would feel like. Starting from scratch, she decided to manifest it her way, making her soul the captain of the project. She called the project BU, meaning Be You. It stands for staying aligned with the Higher Self and following your unique path.

The Concept
In March 2012, upon arriving in Florence, Anya received a clear vision for the design, feeling as though she were an instrument of the Divine. Her original concept was a collection of handbags in various shapes, all sharing the same essence. Everything she had ever loved came together in this concept, encapsulating her entire life.

Developing the Bag
Impossibles
To produce her bag, Anya visited renowned factories across Italy. However, she faced a similar challenge everywhere—her vision was deemed impossible. Especially the round bag, which became the focus of her development. Since her concept embodied the union of living beauty and precision, nothing in the past or present could serve as a potential prototype for this bag. After two years of experiments, Anya realized that a renowned master's name alone was not enough to invent the BUwood bag. There was something else—a missing ingredient.
Finding the Dream Factory
The missing ingredient was Anya's alignment with her soul. In January 2014, she reconnected with her deepest truth and uncovered the essence of her product. This discovery redefined Anya’s entire approach, guiding her to the most legendary atelier in Milan. By communicating the soul of BUwood, she inspired an unprecedented collaboration with the industry's greatest masters.
Bumi in Leather
It took 30 months and 30 prototypes to perfect BUwood, combining a leather exterior with a wooden core, achieving the pinnacle of its beauty.
Bumi in Walnut
The Walnut models are BUwood’s signature. They presented their own unique technical challenges, requiring dedicated time and meticulous development.
